GTA 6: What Is Still Not Confirmed a Month Before Launch
The Extended Look closed many gaps. What remains unannounced - PC, the online date, file size, unlock time, the map's size in numbers, property ownership - and the systems still only assumed from GTA V.
Updated October 20, 2026: Retitled and rebuilt after the August 27 Extended Look, which showed character switching, combat, missions and activities this page previously listed as never mentioned. Settled items now have their own table, the pre-load date (November 12, official since June 24) is corrected, and what remains unannounced - PC, online date, file size, unlock time, a map size figure, property ownership, a character creator - is listed with any reporting attached.

This page is the inverse of the rest of the site: instead of collecting what Rockstar has confirmed, it collects what it has not. When it was first published in July the list was long, because Rockstar had shown almost no gameplay. The 26-minute Extended Look on August 27 moved a great deal of it into the confirmed column. What is left is shorter, and more useful for it.
Nothing on this page is a claim that a feature is absent. It is a claim that no statement exists. Some of these will turn out to be in the game; the point is that nobody outside Rockstar currently knows.

Things assumed from GTA Online
A large amount of what people expect from GTA VI comes from GTA Online rather than from GTA V's single-player, and this is the most frequent source of confidently wrong expectations.
- Owning and running businesses.
- Purchasable properties with garages.
- Vehicle insurance and recovery.
- Daily or weekly activities.
- Cosmetic purchase economies with currency.
- Anything involving other players. Rockstar describes GTA VI as a single player experience, and the only online tie-in at launch is a free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders, described in terms of the existing GTA Online.
GTA Online is a separate product built over a decade after GTA V's design was set. Assuming its systems appear in GTA VI at launch is the most common category error in GTA VI discussion.
The difference between silence and denial
This distinction is the most useful thing on this page, and it is routinely collapsed in coverage.
- Rockstar has said GTA VI is a single player experience. That is a statement, and it is the basis for concluding there is no online mode at launch.
- Rockstar has said nothing about first-person mode. That is silence, and it supports no conclusion at all.
- Rockstar has said Trailer 2 and the Extended Look were captured in-game on PS5. That is a statement about the footage, not about performance.
- Rockstar has said nothing about a PC version. Silence again - a reported date is not an announcement.
When you see a confident claim, ask which of those two categories it falls into, and whether a named outlet is reporting it or an anonymous post is asserting it.
Where the remaining answers will come from
| Date | What happens | What it may settle |
|---|---|---|
| November 9 | Take-Two reports Q2 FY2027 results after market close; call at 4:30 p.m. ET | Possibly nothing about features - earnings calls rarely go there |
| November 12 | Pre-loading opens for digital pre-orders; the physical edition's code becomes available | Install size, in practice, if it has not been published before |
| November 19 | Launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S | Everything on this page that is a game system |
Two items on the list are not tied to any date above: a PC version and the online component. Neither has been announced by Rockstar, and the reported windows for both - Q1 2027 and 2027 respectively - come from outlets citing sources, not from the studio.
Not mentioned. GTA V had one, added in its later console release, but Rockstar has said nothing about one for GTA VI.
Not announced. Jason's safehouse is described as belonging to Brian Heder, and the Shore Court garage in the Vintage Vice City Pack is given with pre-orders and purchases before November 20 rather than bought.
Not stated. Rockstar's only technical claims are that Trailer 2 and the Extended Look were captured in-game on PS5.
Yes. The Extended Look shows switching between Lucia and Jason on one button, including mid-base-jump. Rockstar has not described the rules in writing.
Not announced. GamesBeat, citing anonymous sources and reported by Tom's Hardware, says Q1 2027; Rockstar has said nothing.
No official figure. Aaron Garbut told Game Informer it is bigger than GTA V 'by some degree', according to TechRadar's summary.
