Short answer: no. Rockstar's June 24 pre-order announcement put it plainly - "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single player experience, coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S." No online component has been announced for launch or for any later date.

Grand Theft Auto VI is a single player experience, coming November 19 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The 'December 2026' online window that circulated earlier in the year came from a leaker, not Rockstar, and it has been overtaken. According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier on October 14, GTA VI's online component is expected to be released in 2027. Rockstar has not confirmed that either.
Reading the wording carefully
"A single player experience" describes what goes on sale on November 19. Take-Two has had multiple opportunities - earnings calls, investor releases, press statements - to describe GTA VI as anything else and has not taken them. It is not, though, a statement that online will never come. Nobody at Rockstar or Take-Two has said that.
The 2027 report
Bloomberg's October 14 report, by Jason Schreier, said GTA VI's online component is expected to be released in 2027. The same report said the game had not yet gone gold. Rockstar has not commented on an online date, so 2027 is a reported expectation rather than an announcement - but it is the best-sourced claim so far, and it replaces the December rumour.
What the precedent suggests
Rockstar has shipped online components separately before, and the gap has been short. GTA V launched in September 2013 as a single-player game and GTA Online arrived two weeks later. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a similar pattern with a slightly longer runway. If Bloomberg's report is right, GTA VI's gap will be considerably longer than either.

What about existing GTA Online?
GTA Online on GTA V continues to operate and Rockstar has not announced a shutdown. Whether progress, vehicles, or currency carry across to any future GTA VI online mode is entirely unaddressed - there is no migration announcement of any kind, and no statement that one is planned.
Nobody has announced a character or Shark Card transfer to GTA VI. Any site telling you how to prepare your GTA Online account for a transfer is guessing with your time and money.
What this means practically
- Plan for November 19 as a single-player launch.
- Do not buy anything in GTA Online expecting it to carry over.
- Treat any online date you see as unconfirmed until it appears on the Newswire - including 2027, which is Bloomberg's reporting.
- Do not expect the announcement on any particular schedule: in 2013 GTA Online was announced before launch, but for GTA VI Rockstar has announced nothing.
The GTA+ detail
The clearest commercial signal is not a statement about GTA VI at all. Digital pre-orders of GTA VI come with one free month of GTA+, and Rockstar describes it almost entirely in terms of the existing GTA Online.

Rockstar is using a GTA VI purchase to offer a subscription to a different game's online mode. That fits a launch with no online mode of its own.
The ESRB rating points the same way. Its listing for GTA VI carries an "In-Game Purchases" notice but no "Users Interact" notice, the label ESRB uses when players can communicate or share content with one another.
