Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Leonida Files knows about you, where that information comes from, who else receives it, and how to make us stop.
- There are no accounts on this site. We do not ask for your name, your email address, or any other identifier to let you read a page.
- Our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs, which include your IP address. That is the only data we collect directly.
- Advertising is not currently live on this site. When it is, Google AdSense will serve it and this policy will be updated before a single ad loads.
- You can accept or refuse every non-essential cookie, and change your mind at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13.
01Who we are
Leonida Files ("we", "us") is an independent, self-funded publisher based in Viet Nam, publishing at lfdossier.site. For the purposes of the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation, Leonida Files is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.
Privacy questions and rights requests go to support@regulad.com. We do not have a statutory obligation to appoint a Data Protection Officer and have not appointed one; that address reaches the people who actually run the site.
02What this policy covers
This policy covers this website and nothing else. It does not cover Rockstar Games, the Rockstar Newswire, Reddit, or any other site we link to. Those services have their own policies, and following a link away from here hands you over to them.
03Information we collect
Information you give us
Only what you choose to send. The contact page does not submit anything to a server of ours - it opens a message in your own email client. If you send that message, we receive your email address and whatever you wrote, and nothing more.
Information collected automatically
Serving a web page requires a request, and a request carries information. Our hosting provider records it:
- Your IP address.
- The URL you asked for, and the referring URL if your browser sent one.
- Your user agent string: browser, operating system, device class.
- The date, time and status code of the request.
We use these logs to keep the site up and to investigate abuse. They are not combined with advertising data and are not used to build a profile of you.
Information collected by cookies
One strictly necessary cookie stores your own cookie choice. Every other cookie is optional and is set only after you allow it - see the Cookie Policy for the full list, including the retention period of each one.
What we never collect
We do not run accounts, newsletters, comment threads, forums or payments on this site. We do not ask for, receive or store payment card details, government identifiers, precise geolocation, or any of the special categories of data listed in Article 9 GDPR.
04How we use information
| Purpose | Data used | Legal basis (UK/EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Deliver the pages you request and keep them working | Server logs, strictly necessary cookie | Legitimate interests - running a website at all |
| Detect and stop abuse, scraping and attacks | Server logs | Legitimate interests - security of the service |
| Remember and evidence your cookie choice | The lf_consent cookie | Legal obligation, and your consent for what it records |
| Measure how pages perform in aggregate | Analytics cookies, if you allow them | Consent |
| Serve, cap and measure advertising | Advertising cookies and identifiers, if you allow them | Consent |
| Answer an email you sent us | Your email address and message | Legitimate interests - replying to correspondence |
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
05Advertising and Google AdSense
Advertising is not currently running on this site. We intend to fund it through Google AdSense, and this section describes what will happen when that goes live.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
In practice, Google and the third-party vendors serving ads through AdSense may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to:
- Decide which ad to show in a given slot.
- Limit how often you see the same ad, and avoid showing you one you already acted on.
- Measure impressions, clicks and conversions.
- Detect invalid traffic and ad fraud.
- Personalise ads based on the pages you visit and, where Google already holds it, other information about you - but only where you have given consent.
Personalised and non-personalised ads
If you refuse advertising cookies, we instruct Google to serve non-personalised ads. Those are targeted on the content of the page and your coarse location only. Google still uses a limited amount of data for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting and fraud prevention, which is why non-personalised does not mean cookieless. Refusing does not remove the ads and does not restrict any part of the site.
Third-party vendors
Google works with a list of ad technology providers that it keeps up to date. Where consent is legally required, every provider that can receive your data is named to you in the consent dialog before any of them does. The current list is published by Google at Ad technology providers.
Your controls
- Google Ads Settings - Turn personalised advertising off across every Google product.
- How Google uses data from partner sites - What Google receives from sites that use its advertising services.
- YourAdChoices (DAA) - Industry opt-out for participating vendors, United States.
- Your Online Choices (EDAA) - Industry opt-out for participating vendors, Europe.
- NAI opt-out - Network Advertising Initiative member opt-out.
To change what you allowed on this site, use at any time.
07Legal bases for processing
If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we rely on the bases set out in the table in section 4. In summary:
- Consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and for the personal data those technologies process. You may withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as giving it.
- Legitimate interests for keeping the site online, securing it, and answering correspondence. We have balanced those interests against your rights and concluded they do not override them, because the data involved is minimal and short-lived.
- Legal obligation for recording that you were asked about cookies and what you answered.
09International transfers
Our hosting and advertising providers operate globally, so your information may be processed outside your own country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or the EEA, those transfers rely on the European Commission and UK adequacy decisions for the country concerned, or on Standard Contractual Clauses together with the supplementary measures the provider has published. Google's transfer terms are set out in its GDPR resources. A copy of the relevant safeguards is available on request from support@regulad.com.
10How long we keep information
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Server logs held by our hosting provider | Up to 30 days |
| Your cookie choice | 6 months, then you are asked again |
| Emails you send us | Up to 24 months after the matter is closed, or longer where a legal claim requires it |
| Cookies set by Google | As stated per cookie in the Cookie Policy, up to 13 months |
11Your rights
Under the UK and EU GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we process it, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already happened.
To exercise any of them, email support@regulad.com. We answer within 30 days. There is no charge. We will ask for enough information to be confident the request is genuinely yours, which is usually just the email address you wrote from - be aware that because we do not run accounts, we frequently hold nothing that identifies you, and in that case the honest answer is that there is nothing to give you.
Cookies Google sets are held by Google, not by us. Requests about that data are best sent to Google directly through its privacy policy, and we will help where we can.
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to your national supervisory authority - in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EEA, the authority in your country of residence.
12United States privacy rights
If you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to have it deleted, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or its sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising.
We do not sell personal information for money. Personalised advertising can, however, count as "sharing" or as a "sale" under some of these laws. Turning the advertising category off in is our Do Not Sell or Share mechanism, and we honour the Global Privacy Control signal where your browser sends one.
We do not discriminate against anyone who exercises these rights - the site is free and identical either way. Requests go to support@regulad.com, and an authorised agent may make one on your behalf with written proof of authority.
13Children
This site covers a video game rated for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and we do not permit interest-based advertising to be targeted at children on this site, as required by Google's publisher policies and by COPPA.
If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to support@regulad.com and we will delete it.
14Security
The site is served over HTTPS. It is a statically generated site with no database, no user accounts and no admin login exposed to the public internet, which removes most of the ways a reader's data could leak. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of anything you send us by email.
15Links to other sites
We link out constantly, because citing sources is the point of this site. We do not control those destinations and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Read their policies before giving them anything.
16Changes to this policy
When this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how your information is used - a new category of processing, a new kind of recipient - we will ask for your cookie choice again rather than quietly carrying the old one forward. The version you agreed to is the one that was published at the time.
17How to contact us
Everything reaches support@regulad.com. For a rights request, start the subject line with Privacy request so it is picked up straight away.
